Sometimes, watching the bots in play, and the whales self-voting using multiple user names, makes Steemit appear as an “anything goes” platform.
I’m a golf fan of sorts, emphasis on fan. My ability to short-putt a ball into the little cup is truly an endeavor in patience and, well persistence.
So, when Mickelson added a twist to the game by trotting over to catch a missed attempt from hitting the bunker, and putting it twice before placing his marker, I admit I felt a moment of lol-yoohoo! It almost looked like soccer with a club, or some other land-hockey game. After I got past his shocking move, I had a hearty lol..
I know taking double shots is breaking the rules; and perhaps, not the greatest example for kids; but, I truly felt a yeah! moment…”Take that, ball! You know you were supposed to fall into that little cup.”
It was his birthday; and, the headlines offered a bogus exaggeration when it said he had a meltdown.
Perhaps, since it was his birthday; and the day honoring dads, he chose to work smart, not hard. In a post-game interview, he said that he simply calculated game play, and was willing to take the two-stroke penalty…all within guidelines.
Now, this isn’t my first post about Phil. I’ve observed his play antics on more than one occasion that left me wondering if he’s a ‘gambler’ of the sport.
Today’s move just appeared to be his way of keeping things under control with the least amount of ‘resistance’. Had the ball hit the bunker, imagine all the extra effort required to finish the hole. Of course, that's what people pay big money to watch him do, so I get why he shouldn't make a habit of such.
As some inferred, I’m reminded of what it’s ‘teaching’ the youngsters learning his style of play. But, I see it as a case for smart play. I know it’s more exciting for fans to see the sand flying up in the face as the ball rolls into the hole; but, I truly get it...sometimes, the pros must feel, as I, there has to be an easier way…lol…
That may not be what the audience standing at the 13th hole wanted to see; but, then, maybe, just maybe, as I, found quite the draw-dropping humor as he ‘saved’ the play…lol.
Btw, here’s the clip:
Mickelson's Double-Putt Worth the 2-Point Penalty
Lastly, to all the fathers, Blessed Father's Day...And, to those who find celebrating this day difficult for whatsoever the reason, prayers for you as well.
Peace.
