Most of us have been guilty of doing it. At a time or another. In a way or another.
The thing is that this way of escaping the truth can slowly yet surely become a way of life. Next thing you know, you have conditioned yourself to avoid processing the pain sitting in the confines of your heart.
Day after day, you carry this heavy weight within yourself, and with time, the pain only expands. It doubles and triples in size. Even so that there comes a time when your heart can’t take it all anymore. It’s too much for him to bear. The pain oozes out from him. Your heart has suffered enough from such destruction. And so the only logic way for him to deal with this situation is to rebel. To participate in a chaotic madness. To throw this unhealed pain onto anything. To transfer it onto others. It hurts too much for me to keep it all inside me, right?
An Escape To Mask The Real Issue
Protecting yourself from feeling your pain isn’t a real form of protection.
In fact, it creates more hurt. You can avoid it for as long as you wish for, yet until you face the carnage head on, you will never be able to live in harmony within yourself. You will find explanations for yourself, ways by which you can distract yourself, ways by which you can numb yourself, but nothing will ever heal the wounds of your heart.
Everyone that journeys through life will face traumas of some kind.
We all experience pain. While you can’t always control the pain that comes into your life, you surely can control what you will do with it. Healing is a choice, and it is a choice available to us all. In the end, choosing to heal is choosing to want to become the best version of yourself you can be.
Suppressing our own feelings is very sadly a common behavior that many humans choose to engage in. Maybe it is something that you got used to doing since a very young age, as your parents did not create for you a healthy and loving space to invite you to share your feelings, thoughts and emotions. Maybe it is a coping mechanism that you’ve adopted. Maybe it is because you’ve been taught that expressing your emotions is not something acceptable.
No matter the reason, I want you to know that you don’t deserve to do this to yourself.
We are all human beings, and it is a necessity that we not only allow ourselves to express and understand our feelings, but that we encourage others to do so.
Nothing is more precious than having someone listen to you with an open heart, ready to offer support.
To become that person for others, you first need to become that person for yourself.
Choose the healing path.
It will never fail you.
Within yourself, you have all that it takes to break through the walls of avoiding the very pain that needs your attention.

Do you have a backyard? Maybe I should plant a peach tree this year. I REALLY hope I finally get an apple from my oldest apple tree this year.

I have a lilac bush in my backyard but it's in the shade and doesn't do too well. There are a lot of different kinds of peaches and I'm not sure what one to buy.
I have never even had a flower on one of my apple trees but I'm hopeful this year I have one finally.

Awww that sucks for your lilac bush:(
I’m curious though. How much do fruit trees cost?
I want to talk my mom into getting one 🤩 you’re inspiring me aha:P

I want to get rid of it but it will be a major pain to dig up.
You can usually buy them in the $20-$40 range roughly but I'm growing my apple trees from seed which is not recommended but hopefully it works out. Most appletrees are frankenstein trees that are a clipping rafted onto the root of a different kind of tree.
They're a pretty good investment but bugs can be a challenge and you have to make sure you get the right kind of tree up there but the greenhouses should sell you the right kind of tree. I think you should be able to grow apple trees and maybe peach trees but I'm not sure about the peach trees.

I am having troubling emotions which I prefer not to feel deeply to experience the message they have for me. I don't want the pain. I don't feel strong enough at this time to endure it. My life would fall apart.
Would going for a 10 mile run, to get the endorphins going, be more acceptable than taking an (even natural) mood altering substance (medicine)? If so, why? If not, why not?

I have to admit that I had to read your comment a couple of times to believe what my eyes were seeing. Or perhaps what my heart was feeling. Still now it gets to me that @onceuponatime wrote me those words. They remind me of a post of mine I wrote many months ago which I called 'These pains you feel are messengers. Listen to them.' (Quote from Rumi)
Am I right to think that you don't give yourself enough credit? That perhaps you are much stronger than you believe you are?
The big believer in physical activity that I am would probably answer yes to your question. But (there's always a but:P) I also think that even if going for a run is a healthy thing to do when you need clarity, it will not take away the pain. (In that sense, I see it as a distraction just like a mood altering substance is).

I don't agree. I think that running can also become an addiction rather than a health enhancer.

I actually think so too:P
But then what would my ultra trail friends say?:P (they run up to 100km in a single week)
