I believe that self-love is the foundation to so many things.
Self-acceptance, self-respect and self-love are micro miracles that can change our world.
I believe that when you love yourself, you don’t hurt others.
I believe that when you love yourself, it will be easier to love others, to love your community, to expand that love to other human beings.
It may also be the hardest thing some of us will have to do in life.
To accept ourselves just as we are, with our strengths, our weaknesses, our imperfections and our limitations.
Us and us only have the power to love ourselves.
It is our precious job.
Self-love is the root of self-confidence.
I always say: '' No one is you and that is your power. ''
As each one of us has something special to bring to this universe.
While it has been said countless times that we are our own most difficult critics, we should also be our own inner cheerleader, the fan inside of us that is constantly there to root for us, even during our darkest hours.
Meditation is the instrument that has helped me fall more in love with myself, as each day I meditate, I get to be more in touch with myself. I get to explore the depts of my soul and of my mind.
There is no magic pill that can make us love ourselves more. The medicine is self-love itself.
I never believed when people said the famous saying that goes like this: You cannot love someone else if you don’t love yourself first.
The reason to that is that my whole life, I was constantly dedicated to make others happy, even though I felt extremely sad internally. I never wanted anyone to feel the way I did, and so I did the impossible to make sure everyone around me was content at all times.
Unfortunately, this was a very unrealistic goal.
You can’t be responsible for other people’s happiness at all times, no matter how much you love them.
Hence why I believe that when you cultivate self-love and you are at peace with yourself, your expectations toward others will change. You won’t need them to fulfill all of your needs at every moment of the day, as you will already be content on your own. I like to use the ratio 90%/10%.
90% of your happiness comes from yourself, and the remaining 10% can be filled by others.
Loving yourself takes you to a higher place.
It opens a door to a whole new level.
Life appears different, because you don’t always need others to approve of you and to validate you, since you approve of yourself.
You don’t compare yourself to others as much, as you realize that each one of us is on our own life journey, we all have our own timelines, and the only thing that matters is the progress we make. You don’t resent other people’s success, because you don’t feel jealousy. Instead, you feel happy for them.
Self-love is the source of other types of love, as when you love every corner of your soul, you will want to make others feel happy, as you are already happy and accepting of yourself.
I am sure many of you have encountered individuals who frequently felt the need to bring down others, in order to make themselves feel better. If we allow ourselves to develop more awareness to these kind of situations, we can see that it illustrates a lack of self-love.
To make our world a better, kinder, more compassionate and healthier place to be in, it is our job, to each one of us, to develop the muscle of self-love.
When you are at peace with yourself, even your enemy cannot disturb you 😉
Another example that strikes me a lot, and please note that this is an opinion of my own, but it is the fact that there is a rise in cosmetic enhancements. I believe that unfortunately, our modern world will always put an emphasis toward physical appearance. However, it saddens me that many of us fall into the trap of thinking that changing the way our body looks, will bring us happiness or self-love. It might for a little while, until we find another physical flaw that bugs us about ourselves. This problematic exposes a deeper issue, a deeper unresolved wound hidden inside of ourselves, that we need to take care of. That needs our love and attention.
Be kind to your body, gentle with your mind, and patient with your heart.
