Check the big one off the list!
My son and I activated to tallest peak in the state of Vermont today: Mount Mansfield! It is a 10 point peak at 4393ft. It was another beautiful day with a breeze and temps around 65F. The views from the summit where incredible and I was able to make 5 contacts on 2m, speaking to the President of my radio club (RANV: Radio Amateurs of Northern Vermont) on both 2m and 70cm. I wish we could have been up there all day! I actually earned my first Summit to Summit contact for 11 S2S points and one chaser point for contacting another ham on Mt. Philo, which was about 40 miles south! Add that to my 10 activator points and that ain’t to shabby! Such a great day for so many reasons!
Anderson taking a quick 5 and surveying the scene.
Anderson: “Dad, where’s our house?”
Me: “Awwww... over there?”

We had a great day and it is always fun to spend time with my boy. Stay tuned for our next hike and SOTA activation!
