A Big Day on a Big Mountain
Anderson and I made a stop on the way to a wedding in Lake Placid to activate Whiteface Mountain. This gave us our second completed peak and we made a summit to summit contact with another operator on Mount Hale in New Hampshire.
We made 7 contacts on VHF, but couldn’t catch anyone on UHF or 6m. So we scored 10 activator points, 10 chaser points and 20 Summit to Summit points to give grand totals of 50 activator points, 50 chaser points and 62 summit to summit points.
This activation also gave us our second association. We need five to get a Bronze Mountain Explorer award. Our goal is to get to 100 points by next summer so stay tuned for our future activations!
