Your colleagues are not your friends.

When it comes to the work place, it's good for you to know that your core mandate is not to have a social life but to deliver on your job description. The truth is, everyone wants to be successful at what they do in the shortest time possible, climb up the corporate ladder. This means that, there is a competition within an organization and this type of environment can bring out the true colors of your colleagues.

Some of whom in the beginning can really pretend to have your best interests at heart while in the real sense, they can be classified under frenemies. They look for any loophole to step on you by any means so as to get what they want even if it means public humiliation in front of your boss or supervisors. For that very simple reason, it's good to mind your own business and keep an arms length with your colleagues when it comes to sharing personal issues at the work place.

I am not saying that you should be a loner at work or not attend cocktail or end of year parties. No, my point here is, even if you have to network, have some filter when it comes to what you are talking about and who you are talking with. Do not gossip your colleagues with anyone because that in itself might land you at the door whenever management is looking to downsize. You can't trust anyone, more especially at your place of work.

you're welcome.

In short, I never mix business and pleasure. I have had bad experiences with workmates pretending to be "friends".

precisely dear!

Business and pleasure don't mix well. One or both is sure to fail!

I'd rather business thrive and find find pleasure elsewhere.
