Hello Steemits today I bring you a topic of great interest because, when it comes to breasts, we think it is only a female reason, because it does not, it also affects men.*

What is mastitis?

Breast inflammation is inflammation in the breast tissue. It can affect women and men, in the latter it is relatively rare, it occurs because it involves the breast tissue that is present in the man, in the area of the areola or nipple.

Why does it happen?

It is caused by normal hormonal changes in newborns, boys and men resulting in breast development, there are also other causes such as an imbalance of testosterone (the male hormone). It can be observed in puberty very rarely in adulthood, the latter being of great interest.

What are the symptoms?

There is redness around the areola and a nodule that may or may not be painful. Fluid loss may be seen from the nipple. Complications such as infection with bacteria in the breast tissue can occur if there is a crack in the nipple skin.

What is your treatment?

  • Keep the affected area clean.

  • Place cold in the affected area for 10 minutes, once a day.

  • Apply analgesics and anti-inflammatories in capsules and creams to reduce inflammation and pain if necessary.

  • Apply antibiotics if necessary.

  • To perform a breast echo as a preventive method in the adult male.

  • Surgical treatment in certain cases, if the nodule does not disappear.

Is there a link between mastitis and breast cancer in men?

Certain studies indicate that there is no relationship between mastitis in breast cancer in adult men, which may make diagnosis difficult, but we must allow a reasonable period of time (five weeks) to elapse, so that we can wait for the mastitis process to pass and be able to perform a breast echo, which is the ideal method of preventive choice, whether this painful nodule still persists or not. One of the most aggressive types of breast cancer is in adult men, that's why I recommend you to be aware of any symptoms and thus guarantee us a timely diagnosis.
