Why is Money Green? Occulted Psychology of Colors May Hold Clues

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

Many studies have been done on the psychological impact that certain colors can have on the human mind, and these colors are commonly used in advertising and marketing on unaware buyers, persuading them to buy things that they don't really need.

The impact that colors have on our subconscious mind can be powerful, and can even affect our conscious choices in daily life. Colors are always plucking hidden strings in our mind and resonating into our lives, so a knowledge of how this works could be useful for us in the daily barrage of advertising and propaganda that we live under.

A Conspiracy of Psychology

When the psychology of color is used in advertising, it is called marketing, and an understanding of how the average human mind works could be considered a standard part of any effective modern marketing campaign. Interestingly, when that same psychology is used by churches, giant industries, and corrupted governments, it's called conspiracy theory first, or simply crazy talk.

The Hidden Psychology of Colors

Such a color conspiracy is not so crazy when we see that the menus at breakfast restaurants are usually framed and designed with red, orange and yellow, which are the colors that incite hunger in the mind. Likewise, when we see the blue background on practically every nightly news show, it's a familiar glow with which we are apparently supposed to more readily accept the information that is presented in that blue wash, and we may more easily submit to the data and believe what is being presented. Obviously none of these corporate entities will admit to using such tricks, and the psychology of color is thereby largely ignored in the public mind.

In this modern culture--a culture so obsessed with money-- it may be revealing and interesting to then look at the very color of that magical money: GREEN

Secrets of the Color Green

How does our subconscious mind interpret the color green in particular? One place to look for clues might be the color spectrum itself. The colors in a rainbow or a prism will fall in a certain order, RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, INDIGO, VIOLET. (ROY G BIV)

This arrangement puts green in the center, or the middle of visible light, and that central location is naturally the very centerpiece of every beam of light.

The Middle

The importance of this middle location might be looked at as a hurricane; the 'eye' in the center, calmly observing the surrounding fury while also being protected by it.

Neither burned or frozen, green is seated between the fiery warm colors and the cool ones, on the median of everything.

Green is the symbol of life on Earth; growth and nourishment. Green equally incorporates both warm and cool colors, it is both, and neither.

A thing can have many sides, but only one center.

The importance of centering shows up in language as well as color:

  • The word MEDicine suggests healing-- a return to the middle, the medium, to regain balance.
  • The word MEDitation hints at a desire to seek spiritual knowledge from some middle region.

Money Tries to be God

With both spiritual and physical health being suggested by the color green, it's no wonder the US dollar is tinted with this part of the color spectrum. We are supposed to worship the stuff, and any little tricks that might strengthen our belief in it's power are the usual features of a magical talisman, words and symbols that are recognized by our subconscious mind once again, and we unknowingly fall under the spell.

Learning about the archetypal subconscious meanings of colors and symbols may be one way that we can begin to use these same colors and symbols for our own benefit. If little green pyramids, numbers and words can somehow hack our minds into prosperity, we might find ourselves more healthy, wealthy, and wise with such assistance from the subconscious part of our minds by learning the mind's powerful relationship with color.

Oh yeah, I fully agree with this. I've been thinking the same for years now, and I'm actually quite impressed at what depths people go through to attain their goals. I've seen restaurants use ROY for marketing, which nets them more customers. It's all just one huge trick. Everything indeed has its purpose. Great observation, man!

ROY works at all of the fast food places around here! This green bit was inspired by the new logo color, (and colorchallenge Thursday!) and it was about halfway through writing about green money and symbols when I saw this spooky illuminati symbol right here on this site: the green pyramid inside the 'upvote' icon!

Coincidence, or conspiracy?

Haha yeah, I figured that the UI change inspired this post haha!

Very interesting, I studied marketing for 5 years and colors is not something we covered in depth.

What I found interesting was the things that marketers do to persuade us to buy such as the layout of the stores (supermarkets are a great example they always have the produce at the front of the store and the staples such as bread and milk in the far corner). Even small things such as having slow and nice music so we feel good about ourselves and stay in the store longer.

One of the more well-known marketing tricks using the psychology of color is the menus at fast food restaurants. The prevalent red/orange/yellow theme is no coincidence, as these are the colors that apparently induce hunger when seen. Another is the blue backgrounds on news broadcasts, a submissive color, so that viewers will accept what is heard more readily.

Now that is some great observations!. Colors selection have always been an inciter to specific emotional drives. Even all the logos and branding follow the same ideology. Color indeed induces our perspectives!

It's not talked about much, but colors do seems to be pretty influential to the mind of the observer, whether they know it or not.

haha and now even upvote is green too lol :D

Glad you caught that! It has a pyramid symbol inside too!

color theory is a fascinating topic and this is just the beginning of the rabbit hole. As always thank you for sharing, this has inspired me to do revisit the topic as lately I have been focusing my research on reprogramming ones subconscious but have yet to integrate color theory into that research.

That sounds interesting, about reprogramming one's subconscious. It reminds me of the left and right brain hemispheres and their associated male and female qualities, (red and blue), always trying to merge in a sacred union.

Absloutely agree on that article, commerce is evolving. A few years from now, digital currencies will play a central role in our lives, replacing coins, cash, cards, and cheques. They will enable us to transact more easily, more cost-effectively and with greater security than ever before.

No doubt, the crypto is the future, these green dollars will be historic relics soon.

Wow great, your post are awesome. Very deep and meaningful thought about the use of color in various fields. You are so genius friend have no words to describe how much informative this post is. Thanks for sharing, wish you a very beautiful time ahead.

I'm glad you enjoyed this, it is fascinating to me the way we trick ourselves using our own minds sometimes. Have a nice morning, and thanks for commenting.

I've been reading right along, I've just been crap at commenting lately for a number of reasons, but suffice to say I hope you saw that I resteemed your awesomely amazing fiction about the little girl's dream that was finally rewarded properly I saw, and I think my next favorite of the last several was the barefooted man, though of course this is amazing too ;)

I'm still looking for the balance between writing material for posts and interaction with everyone else, so I probably can relate. I did see that resteem, thank you for that, and of course I noticed that somebody else noticed the story with a giant upvote, very pleasant surprise there!
It was the new green logo that inspired this post, and I copied the green upvote icon for one of the post's images when I saw that it is actually a little pyramid symbol inside of a circle, just like on the US 1 dollar bill. once seen, it can never be unseen! ;)

It’s an interesting observation. Money used to be yellow (gold), and grey (silver). Canada has funny money..(looks like monopoly). Perhaps these colors represent something more telling? Would be an interesting post.

No doubt, the color of gold has made people crazy for millennia now, almost a supernatural connection there.

We most definitely have a special connection with the color of and the substance Gold. The Ark of the Covenant is an interesting example of how powerful gold can be, when university researchers attempted to build it according to the bibles specifications they had to destroy it because of its excessive conductivity -- note: this is not backed by a specific source i just remember this being mentioned in a couple of documentaries i have watched

They might have been nearly blinded by the 'arc' that they thought they'd tinker with. There are indeed lots of references to electricity in much of the alternative studies I've seen on it over the years. Nassim Haramein has speculated that the Arc as a device similar to our own hearts, or even a sun, and possibly even working as a conduit for pure consciousness in it's mechanics.
We do seem to be somehow programmed to like gold, like maybe a collective memory of some forgotten or occulted quality of gold. I don't know if we really were engineered to be miners here on this planet as is often suggested, or if we like gold for some more important reason that is still hidden, but it is a strong part of our program for some reason.

Amazing post really nice.....I like it.thx for share😍
