Conclusions

  1. You'll get paid the most money by writing about Steemit, but never say anything bad about it. Even making constructive criticisms will result in a lower payout than unconditional praise.

  2. You only need about 15 votes to make over $5.

  3. Networking is more important than content. You don't have to worry about people finding your posts on their own if you recruit your audience yourself.

  4. Tell people what they want to hear. If you challenge them, do it in a way that still paints them as a hero.

  5. Tug on people's heart strings with relatable human interest stories.

  6. Be as fun and light-hearted as possible. When you talk about serious information, do it in the most fun, light-hearted way possible.

  7. The quicker and easier your post is to read, the more likely people will get to the end and upvote it.

  8. The more useful your information is, the more people will pay for it... as long as your post is quick, easy and fun to read.

  9. My Steemit wallet is currently worth about $4k, but most of my posts have earned less than $1, and none of my posts have earned more than $30. With persistence, you can nickle and dime your way to riches.

  10. Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you don't, but the more persistently you post, the luckier you get.

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.

Understand your point(s). But means that most people must act fake. I only comment and/or upvote and/or follow if i really like the post.

Sure, sprinkle some wisdom on posts that you enjoy, remember you may receive some curation points by doing so and slowly build your own niche within this system. Once you can see your own ideas are being valued (in both senses of the word) then there is no need to fake it as you will feel better rewarded for yourself.

181 posts, wow. When did you get started with Steem, and why? I'm sure you must have already answered this somewhere, but if not that's probably a good idea for another article.

I answered your question in this post:
The Wise Sloth's introduction post.

The short version is, I've been blogging since 2009. I've only been on Steemit for 6 months, but I have years of posts saved up that I cross post from my main blog, thewisesloth.com to Steemit. I love blogging, and I'm always looking for new blogging platforms and audiences. So here I am.

Thanks. That sounds pretty smart, to post content from an existing blog. I'm sure you agree, the Steem community is very welcoming, and there is a strong feeling among users that "we are building something great together".

So much to find out about Steemit , thanks for sharing the info @thewisesloth.

@thewisesloth I got some valuable information reading your article. It's is something I was looking as I am a beginner on @steemit. Thank you for this blog.
