Dearest Steemians,
This is from a piece that I originally wrote for a university magazine of which I was editor-in-chief. It was originally more detailed, so just thought I'd sum it up for easy reading. A quote that I also find inspirational and a motivator to succeed (of course, each individual's decision of success is up to them) is:
“On your last day on earth, the person you became will meet the person you could have become.” — Anonymous
Now for those summarize tips:
DO seek the best in you. You are responsible for applying your potential into the best you can be and always improve. Everyone has been blessed with inner strengths and gifts and should contribute to the people and world around themselves. Think “Give”.
DO what’s right. Values and integrity are crucial when making tough decisions. There will always be conflicting thoughts, but keep in mind that in the end, the right thing is the most rewarding thing.
DO trust your instincts. Be who you want to be, and experience life as much as possible. Regrets are not worthwhile when you’re 60 ++ years old.
DO keep the “Big Picture” in mind. Always keep your goals at the top of your mind, and don’t stop pursuing them even if you stumble. One mistake or failure is not the be-all and end-all of your dreams. Keep going.
DON’T forget why. Business will change you, but don’t forget your roots, or why and how you attained your success. Keep in touch with the people who helped you along your journey and make time for your family and friends. Remember who you were the day you set out to achieve.
DON’T pursue what others want you to be. Your path is yours to follow. Don’t be distracted by other people’s ideals for you or let anyone cloud your vision. Comparison is poisonous, focus is vital.
DON’T return to what hasn’t worked. Never go back to the same thing, expecting different results, without something being different.
DON’T believe you can please everyone. Realize that it is truly is impossible to please everyone, and begin to live purposefully, trying to please the right people.
