So this is the first part of my blog, this is the story of my life, to tell the whole story we need to start at the beginning, the very beginning.....the day I arrived in this world, my birth....I will be breaking my life into bite sized portions, this part of the story starts with my birth, the first few months up until and including my baptism, most of this is taken from my baby book, a list of all the facts of me as a baby boy, fanscinating reading this as i tell this story, to see what a happy curious baby I was, along with this blog I will be including pictures to accompany it and with every part some music you can play to indicate my mood at this time.
The story of life – the first few months on this planet.
The first days.
I was born at 7.25am in december 1984 now I realise my memory going all the way back to 1984 as a newborn baby probably isn’t there and a lot of this is information from my baby book. I was described as beautiful, very alert and content. I had a full head of dark brown hair, my eyes were blue, my length was 22 and a half inches and my weight was nine pounds two ounces. Just after being born the nurse picked me up and began to inspect my hands and feet and proceeded to put on my first nappy, she lay me down on my back and leaned over me and boom in my infant exuberant style I urinated straight in her face! If I was coming into this world I’m gonna do it with a bang! Or in this case a shooting stream of urine right in the nurses face!
In my first days after birth my sleeping times were between feeds and bathing, my wakeful times were between 10am and noon and 8.30pm and 1.45am, I slept on my belly and fed anytime I felt I was hungry! And usually fed for about 20 minutes my method of feeding was breast fed as a baby my newborn characteristics were that I was alert, curious, content, did not cry and was pleasant. Upon coming home my sister and father were there to welcome me home. The weather for that time of the year was dull but warm it was december after all. The signifigant world events at the time was that the miners in the uk brought the country to a standstill now in their 10th month of strike action.
Although I obviously dont remember all this I was a happy bright baby, curious about the world oblivious to the world that would in the future change him.
Advice my mother had given herself during my infancy was to sometimes let the house look a mess so long as its clean and enjoy the baby. She also suggested having a takeaway once a week to take a break from cooking. I first began focussing on my mother about two weeks after i was born, normal time for a baby to smile at its mother is about six to eight weeks, I first started to smile at my mother after two and a half weeks, I was always noted to be quite aware very young, just under two months after my birth I first discovered my hands and that they had fingers and they were a part of me, three weeks earlier I had already began sucking my thumb.
The first months
Next I discovered my feet about one month after discovering my hands I realised wow hey! What are these things, hey look i have toes! What do they taste like, oh my toes wiggle they are my toes! They are part of me. After nearly 5 months after birth i began to discover my whole body and they hey Ive got more than just hands and feet!
Normally an infant will start to hold objects or toys after about 3 to 4 months old, after 2 and a half months old i picked up my first toy, a very curious baby!
Normally a baby recognises itself in the mirror about 6 months after birth, 4 month after I was born I spotted myself in the mirror and thought heeey! I look good! Thats me!.

My favourite story was the ever great Thomas the tank engine!
Baptism day!
Although today I’m very atheist I believe people should just be good to each other and I dont need any religion to tell me that, but the norm back then was to baptise your baby so heres the story of my baptism/naming day.
My name translates to “The lord gave” or “gods gift”
My godparents were kenneth and susan who were friends of my father and members of the local rifle club.
The ceremony was held at st.osmunds church in bolton uk.
The priest residing was fr. A Duffy.
Present at my baptism was my gradad and grandma, grannie and grandpa (my mothers parents were referred to as grandma and granddad, my fathers parents were referred to as grannie and grandpa), dawn, joan and john dunlevy our neighbours, john and mary ivers my mothers friends and a teacher at my grandmothers school she worked at and auntie barbara.
After the ceremony we had a party back at home, my reaction to the whole ceremony was to screamed cos I wanted food! Then I went for a snooze.
I wore a white knitted gown and bonnet which had been knitted by grandma.
The weather was windy and a little drizzly.
At my party my grandma and granddad gave me a dinner set as a gift, grannie and grandpa gave me a spoon, haha typical as I continue this life blog Ill go into more detail about the differences between grandma and grandad and grannie and grandpa lets just says my fathers parents were very........cheap haha understatement! Dawn gave me a teddy rattle!! Yay I got a present! John and mary gave me a baby suit, auntie barbara gave me a suit and one of my future favourite toys, a musical rabbit, ken and susan gave me a thomas the tank engine dinner set, oh I loved thomas the tank engine as a baby!.

Thank you i will be continuing the story as I go, I know its a short bite but i feel its easier to read a long blog in short bites than enourmous pieces of heavy reading. Thanks for the comment.
