The so-called Rooster's Ridge - impressive for its massiveness and the romantic wildness of the landscape - is eminently an emblematic place in this part of the world. A formation of rocks visible on the surface in the high mountains, Rooster's Ridge is worth the effort to walk the paths that lead near the rocks: from above you can see the vast mixed forests, large beeches and spruce areas from aboveDSCN32748.jpg

you can see peat bogs, juniper areas and mountain pastures, a diversity of habitats where the bear feels good - which is at home. The wolf, the laughter, the wild boars, the deer, etc. are also at home. You can feel what full freedom means, if you are lucky enough to see traveling falcons shooting through the air; these birds sometimes nest on the huge rock walls of the Crest.

The most beautiful is when the rays of the setting sun bring an orange-reddish light, so that the rocks and the forest look miraculous for few minutes, before the installation of darkness. But a special sensation can give the pale light of the Moon, able to outline the jagged shape of the rock colossus; on quiet nights you can hear the screams of owls and if you are lucky you can hear wolves.DSCN32740.jpg

DSCN32744.jpgUnforgettable sensation. Sometime, long time ago it was common for young people to spend a few days and nights with a tent in the area; it was a good opportunity to better perceive natural realities in all their splendor and harshness, the drama of a storm in the night, when lightning suddenly cracked the trees and rocks of the heights… a moment when the unfounded tricks in you temper a little, maybe. At least for a while.
