What to do in the first hours? How to behave in the hospital? EIGHT points that will possibly save your loved one. Personal experiences of stroke survivors. Instructions on how to act if a loved one has a stroke.

  1. If you have a stroke, call an ambulance. “Maybe it’s not a stroke” or “let it lie down, it will go away by itself” does not work here. A person can die. There is no need to ask your friends for advice, call "experts", give the pills that they advised. You are wasting your time. Call an ambulance. Let's say you have a stroke. Inform the operator that STROKE will respond immediately. Remain calm while waiting for an ambulance. Position the patient comfortably. Don't scare him with your panic. Be with him. Tell your plan of action calmly and slowly. For example: “WE ARE WAITING FOR DOCTORS. THEY will come soon and help. IF IT IS NECESSARY TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL, I WILL GO WITH YOU. “Any text that will calm the patient. He will understand that he is not alone, you are near.

  2. Try to get the patient to the hospital as carefully as possible. You can shake along the way, do not shift carefully and thereby significantly aggravate the effects of the blow. Make sure this isn't happening.

  3. The stroke was arrested in the hospital, the risk of recurrence and the threat to life are excluded. This needs to be done quickly! Stay close to your loved one, make sure they get down to business right away, and don't forget in the hallway. Special attention at the weekend !!! A person after a stroke cannot take care of themselves. There should be an assistant nearby. Feel free to ask, ask, demand. The life of a loved one depends on your persistence!

  4. While your loved one is in the hospital, spend as much time with him as possible. This will give him maximum care and control. Doctors are not gods. They are wrong. You must support them. Rely only on honey. staff - you will lose a person.

  5. In the first day or two, you need to understand why the stroke happened. Chat with doctors. Be prepared not to give long lectures about stroke. Try if necessary))) but find the reason! Most likely, several causes of stroke will be named. Write them down in detail. Do not reason and do not doubt, from this / not from this! All of them must be combined into one whole! Otherwise, the stroke will recur. It looks like a second head wound. Better not.

  6. After a stroke, the patient is in the hospital for at least 12-14 days. During this time, learn everything there is to know about stroke. You should be informed by the time you are checked out. Doctors will not conduct an educational program for you. They will hand over a relative and that's it.

  7. Doesn't get well in the hospital. Do not torture the doctors: he will get better / will not be cured, will walk / will not, what are the terms ??? .... They are not rehabilitators and do not deal with recovery, BUT they will still give predictions, especially if you ask. Most likely negative, you will not be happy! And, most likely, it will be a wrong prediction. So don't move. NOBODY KNOWS how a loved one will recover.

  8. When you leave the hospital, you will be given all the documents. But again, politely but persistently ask doctors about the causes of the stroke. Everything they say is best filmed with a phone, as it is impossible to remember (excitement, medical terms ...). Explain to the doctors what you are filming so you don't miss anything. Transport patient home with care and attention. Take your time to send him to rehab. There is no fire. At home for a couple of days without fuss and carefully decide where to recover. There are two options - to a rehabilitation center or home. There are many tricks there too. More on this in the sequel.
