On Starting

At this very moment, sitting on a cute and hip cafe in Makati, my mind wandered on how I’m starting my life as an entrepreneur. The thought came in my middle of brainstorming for a project my friend and I are working on.

Starting the entrepreneurial life may seem and look so easy. With just having your laptop, organizer, your wifi and your favorite coffee shop to be your office, it looks so easy. But in reality, my dear, it isn’t. I for one, am experiencing difficulty being one but it doesn’t mean I’m giving up. It has always been my dream to become an entrepreneur, having my own business although it did scare me that’s why for years I’ve become a corporate person.

Until a blessing came 2 years ago which I think gave me the opportunity to pursue my passion. I’ve fallen in love with organizing and coordinating events when I was still a college student. It was my job after being a barista at Starbucks and it was part of my job when I was one of the marketing assistants for SSI (StrategicSynergy,Inc.) So the thought of continuing being an event organizer/coordinator motivated me to start my own business and offer my services.

My first client was assisting my friends for their wedding. I was downright excited for them and for myself. It was also scary since I have no team yet. The only team I had were our friends who willingly became my assistants that day. They were the best! I couldn’t thank them enough!

Fast forward today.

I’ve had busy days, I’ve had idle days. It sucks to have idle days but I just have to make sure that I don’t stay that way. Since I am waiting for future clients to call, I sit here working on our project. A passion project, I call it. A startup and another beginning to my entrep life. I’m totally excited just thinking about it!

It may seem hard, but my take away to my fellow starting entrepreneurs out there, it’s scary and risky to be on your own out there but there’s always the end result that’s beautiful when we get to work hard on what we are most passionate about and what we love.
