" Courtesy is a natural outgrowth of the refining influence of Spirit". ( Bruce R McConkie)

Courtesy is genuine politeness, respect and thoughtful consideration for others. Each of us has a different personality, different likes and dislikes and interests. The courteous person recognizes these differences and maintains a respectful attitude towards other individuals and cultures whose ideas may differ from our own.

When we are courteous, we are better able to communicate with each other and we have more self - confidence. If children are taught correctly, they will discover that courteous is related to success in all relationships, careers friendships, dating, marriage and family life. Courtesy helps the young become sensitive to other's feelings and respond with true love and respect. When a young child takes others feelings into consideration they move more rapidly from a self - centered world to the more social world of the mature person where conscience encourages them to act for the benefit of others and of their selves. Children will feel worthwhile as they behave towards their fellow man in a manner pleasing to the Lord.

We need to teach courtesy through example. Marion D Hanks emphasized "Our treatment of others, expressed in acts of kindness and compassion and unselfishness will themselves be inclined to think well of mankind.

Following are examples of ways in which parents can set for their children acquaintances.

🌻 Express appreciation such as : Thanking them for little things they do. A child needs and deserve recognition.
🌻 Preface requests with please and thank you.
🌻 If parents are rude in any way and father use bad language, you open the door for your child to act like that. You may not like it, but you're at fault here. Do as I do.
🌻 Parents can show respect to family. Don't ever use these the following words in your home: stupid, clumsy, dumb, acting like a baby, messy etc. That's labeling.
🌻 Be good listeners.
🌻Be genuinely interested in what others say.
🌻 Ask polite questions when the situation warrants it.
🌻 Respond with appropriate gestures, such as a smile, laugh or a nod of the head.
🌻 It is of utmost importance to show courtesy and respect wife and husband. Do your arguing out of hearing range.

These thoughts are the perfect scenarios. It can't be accomplished in one day or weeks or months, but if you start and make one your own, you will love your self- control as you manage to accomplish more goals.

This is just lovely

Courtesy is genuine politeness, respect and thoughtful consideration for others

And this statement is all encompassing. It's so painful that many people out there just desire self satisfaction not giving a thought to the next man. The world will be a far better place if we were all courteous.

Upvoted and following for more. Cheers

Absolutely. Thank you.

I agree with all the above statements, its exactly the way we were brought up, respect not only your elders but everyone around you. Have respect for and help anyone around you needing help, give up your seat for an older person or younger women or handicapped person. I wish our children of to day were taught the same principles. Nice post.

"Life is not so short but that there is always time for courtesy"

Sadly enough we don't have time for courtesy

It is sad.

I believe courtesy is one of the attributes highly required today along with compassion, sympathy, goodwill and good intentions.
