The Burp of Fear

in limerick •  7 years ago  (edited)
We had a picnic in May
It was a beautiful day
But he let out a burp
So I called him a twerp
And that he should turn away

'I'm sorry,' he shamefully said
He cowered, and bowed his head
'It was the beer
I'm allergic, I fear
I think I should go to bed'

I suddenly got mad and saw red
So I slapped his stupid fat head
He packed up his stuff
And went off in a huff
I assumed he was going to bed

I shouted that he had to come back
But he thought he would get a whack
He may have been right
But he ran out of sight
I'll be sure to give him that smack

The moral of the story is clear
Don't eat and have a beer
You will get in a fight
And burp through the night
Then you'll have a life to fear

This is one very funny post.

Well done! Nice imagery, well laid out, a great story told in an interesting way. Because I'm here to critique, in case you care (rules are meant to be broken) Lymericks traditionally hold to five lines, with 9,9,6,6,9 syllables, and the first, second and fifth lines rhyming each other, while the third and four lines rhyming each other. But, like I said, rules are meant to be broken and this is funny! Good job, well done.

Sorry Mark, you should know by now, I'm not great with rules haha. I didn't know about the syllable thing but the lines yeah, just did 5 of them haha! Thanks once again!
