UK Job Markets Question from a LinkedIn Connection

in linkedin •  6 years ago

REF: "I received an email from you for a 30% off special. Could we have a quick Skype conversation to see if you could find a position for me in London"

First reaction to "Could you find a Position for me in London?" was very negative.

Since I don´t take full responsibility for Searches for anyone. The most I can take is about 50%. I train in Job Search, but I don´t execute all the work, because that is an impossible task to do.

Second, telling you that I can find a job for someone is a huge responsibility that I am not willing to take. Tracking Markets is one thing, but finding jobs for someone is another.

I think finding a job is the accountability of the candidate, not of the consultant.

Assuming it was meant just Market Tracking, takes me nowhere either.

Because as I read the profile it was full of generic buzzwords. I could not find or identify the real industry. Seems like your the whole experience is in Non Profit Organizations.

I am not into the Non Profit Organizations Markets, nor I do know Recruiters centered around that segment.

If someone is pretending to go to UK, the first requirement is to ensure she or he is fully legally qualified to work there. Second, be there. Remote Job Search for that type of markets may require physical presence.

Do I give Skype Interviews?

Yes, but after I have hammer out all possible questions, so not to waste time.

This is what happens when a Recruiter or Consultant fails to understand a Profile

But who is to blame? The Recruiter or the Candidate making the presentation??
I will leave the answer to the markets.
