Chaucer(1333-1400): In Middle English period, we cannot help taking the name of Geoffrey Chaucer. Heis considered the father of English literature english poet. for the first time in english poetry we see the use of pentameter. He is the first great national poet. his art of characterization was eye-catching. He also used humoe, satire, irony and pathos. in english language and literature, his contribution and versification was ever remembered. His historical creation is the canterbury tales.
