I decided to check meal replacements for myself and give them a shot. I came across this company called Huel. It stands for human fuel. I bought two two pound bags, and it came with a shaker, a little instructional manual, and a t-shirt. On the manual, I found a lot of information for which I actually think this is an awesome product. Very recently I decided to stop eating any meat other than chicken because of the environmental impact they have. It turns out that Huel is made out of sustainable ingredients such as: oats, pea, rice, flaxseed, sunflower, coconut and a blend of vitamins and minerals. That way, they can create a perfectly balanced meal by using ingredients that have a smaller impact on the environment! Another positive aspect is that a Huel meal costs about 1.61 pounds. Lastly, theoretically you could just consume Huel instead of any other food and be perfectly healthy because of its perfect balance. Nevertheless, the experience of eating a delicious meal is unique and I bet no one would change them. Therefore most users use it as a meal replacements for only a meal a day or a couple a week.
How do I use it? On my school days I usually miss lunch, so now I have been bringing a Huel meal with me. I just need to add a bit more than half a liter of water and shake for about 1-2 mins, and boom, it's ready. The taste is not delicious but it is not bad at all. I have the Vanilla one and it tastes like what it is: a mix of seeds and some vanilla. So far I feel great and it is awesome to have such a convenient form of having a healthy. environmentally friendly, and cheap meal. Some people even theorize that this is the meal of the future. Why? Because of its low environmental impact and its cheap price. I personally think I will continue using this product for a good while. At least until I am done with my studies.
What do you think about meal replacements? Would you give them a try?
