Liz Cheney opted to be a trustee rather than a delegate. There's nothing wrong with that.

The tension between the two legitimate representative modes is well known, and I think she took the honorable path, whereas the delegate path is often (not always) the path of the coward who cares more for power than doing what is right.

But make no mistake that her probable loss today in the WY primary is an instance of democratic accountability. Democratic accountability doesn't just mean calling representatives to account when they make bad policy decisions or become corrupt. It also means dragging them down to the -often very low - level of their constituents (at least the level of those who bother to show up and vote).

So cheers to the 1/4 - 1/3 of WY Republican primary voters who stuck with Cheny despite her opposition to Trump. I'm not a big fan of hers, but you made the better choice today.
