Hahahaha! Oh yes! In the last bout of loadshedding my power supply blew up. It was my old computer and fortunately it had a docking station so I was able to use it without. I've subsequently got a new one and I've been carefully managing the battery. For just this eventuality. So far so good.

I think we all had the same reaction to Earth Hour. And yes, eskomplicated!!

What can do? EishKom sent high voltage through a big area locally and blew up all kinds of home implements, now advise people to switch off and unplug from wall sockets.... Eish

So sorry o hear of you all going through this I have experienced load shedding in a few countries I worked and know what a nightmare it is
Sad but true humor does help is such situations but only a little I know

Humour is the best medicine! Nothing is going to change in a hurry, it's broken!

Yes it truly is and sorry to hear there is no hope in sight

Hahahaha I love the humor Lady Joan.
We make do with a rechargeable lamp and two hot water flasks.
Sadly the PC'S remain off, but we bypass the shutdowns with our little cell phone modem to keep the phone going!
The rest is as they say, sounds of darkness!
Blessings!

Of late everything goes off except cell phones, alas working a from phone does not hold for long either Stephen.

Friday to Sunday we had no water! It is incredible they replaced all the water pipes throughout our area 8 years ago (most probably another tender), now they are bursting all over town..... Oh the pipe replacement was to find illegal connections?

Hahahaha Lady Joan, sorry that I am laughing, but cheap plastic pipes can never be compared to the old cast iron pipes. Tenders of course lends a totally different aspect to the work. I don't want to say more except that your 8 year old pipes are outlasted by 100 years of cast iron pipes, fixed properly.
Sorry for your troubles and hope things get sorted!
Blessings!

Most probably sold the old pipes off to scrap metal and made more money in return than what they put in the ground with plastic. Never accept anything at face value.

Ouch... 1.5 hours on a laptop is pretty testing.... hope you are surviving with some humour intact!

Decided a long time ago to laugh it off or drive yourself crazy...

For people of the 21st century to be without electricity - it's even hard for me to imagine! Perhaps humor is the main salvation.

That is what happens when parasitical entities take over in a country, keep smiling.

Puts a whole new meeting to "Hello Darkness My New Friend"

Even though have some funny points, I really hope that things fall into place soon.

Glad you enjoyed the read, we will have to wait and see if things get better.

Living in Guatemala i am no stranger to the power out. I try to look on the bright side of the dark side. At least my bill will be less this month. Or its candles and story time with the kids. Lol...anything to help me forget how much power companies suck.

Sucks even worse how much we rely on the electricity, alternatives are very expensive to convert over as well @buttcoins, I imagine a similar experience in your country.
