Snowboarding ended with the winter. So I got the idea of longboarding. I didn't even think about buying a board, but to do it myself. And so I went researching on the internet about how to do it. I realized that I had to buy wheels and axles but I could make a board myself!
I bought 3 pieces of plywood, cut them to 1x0.5 m and glued them with epoxy resin all together and put them in the press, which I made prior, so the board will be slightly inward. In meantime I printed the longboard scheme and skimmed it on the plywood to cut it.
I placed glass fibers between each plywood to add strength and elasticity to the board.
Board was in the press for 24 hours and when I pull it out I saw just what I was expecting, the dent!
I began to cut a bit off the line with a jigsaw, so that when it's done I could fine-tune it with a grinding paper.
See video after fine-tuning with grinding paper.
I was thinking to have something on it and drew it, but I do not know how to draw it! So I decided to print on the rice paper image that I wanted.
I printed, I put the paper on the board and put the epoxy resin once more over the paper on the board, that looked great! After that I put just one more layer of glass fiber on top of the paper to give that cool texture.
The board was done, all I needed to do is to order wheels, axles and grip tape. I drilled the holes and put the wheels on. The board turned on great!
And then winter will come back soon so, heloooo snowboarding! :)
Cool! I follow you.
