Ganesha, also known as Ganapati, Vinayaka, or simply Ganesh, is one of the most widely worshipped deities in Hinduism. He is revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom. Depicted with the head of an elephant and a large, rotund body, Ganesha is often portrayed holding various objects, such as a goad, a noose, or a modak (sweet dumpling), symbolizing his powers and attributes. Ganesha is worshipped by millions of people around the world, and his festival, Ganesh Chaturthi, is celebrated with great fervor across India and in many other countries.
