LOS ANGELES -- Brook Lopez sprained his right ankle in the first half of Monday night's 116-114 overtime loss to the Golden State Warriors and did not return.
The Lakers' starting center, who rolled his ankle after trying to challenge a shot from behind, underwent X-rays, which were negative. The team said Lopez will undergo an MRI on Tuesday for his ankle.
Lopez has required surgery on his right foot before. In 2014, while with the Nets, he underwent surgery to repair a fractured fifth metatarsal of his right foot.
Lopez also had a second procedure -- a first metatarsal osteotomy -- that repositioned another bone in his foot to "unload and protect the injured area."
In 2011, Lopez fractured the same fifth metatarsal, which required a screw to be replaced in it.
Lopez came into Monday night averaging 13 points and 4.4 rebounds in 22.9 minutes per game this season.
