#LoveBooster 101: Commitment

A commitment per se is not an obligation, but it’s beneficial for us to understand its character in a relationship. In the first place, a commitment can either be a promise or pledge, an agreement or arrangement between two individuals, an act of loyalty, or a contract.

When we talk about commitment issues in the areas of marriage, we need to know the role of contracts, consent, and sense of duty. If we’re dealing with a solemnized marriage, there’s always a covenant involved between God and the couples; an existence of a formal bond between partners and an additional responsibility when the husband and wife become parents; including the lifetime testimony of their matrimony to their families, relatives, friends, and community. Marriage can also be formal and legal; its institution has been officially authorized by law and the general public.

For relationships to continue, to survive struggles or conflicts, to mature and thrive, there has to be a joyful, personal, and voluntary commitment to each other. The very foundation of commitment is love, not fear.

Stay committed to LOVE!
