Find something that you love and do it for money

Do what you love

I think the biggest problem not just my generation but most generations have is that they don’t know what they love, they are not aroused by anything thus they have to do other things they don’t like for money, only to put food on the table. It’s never easy to find something that you like to do and to do it for money afterward, but this is one of the best ways I know to living a lifestyle that gets you excited and keeps you going throughout the day.

Supposing that I got your attention, this is not that kind of “do what you love, blah, blah, blah, bullshit” type of post but something I consider different, better.

But, before I get deeper, I just want to highlight that even if some people think that money is evil and desiring them is terrible, that cannot be further from the truth, and you have to help yourself by attaining financial freedom so you can help others improve their life down the road. Money is good, you should desire to have some but they, of course, shouldn’t become the purpose, but maybe the means of achieving the purpose, the lifestyle, and freedom.

Find Something

I know, it’s never easy to find something that you genuinely like to do, but I firmly believe that there’s at least one thing that matches your personality and you always enjoy doing. A couple of lucky people find out what they love to do very early in their life, but for most of the people, it’s a never-ending journey. To get there, you have to experience as many things as possible, but you cannot stop from doing that until you find that one thing that clicks for you.

For me it wasn’t easy either, I tried many things, and nothing clicked until I found out about Steem, that’s when everything became clear. I always enjoyed talking to people, brainstorming and engaging and by looking back, even when I was a kid, I wasn't playing football because I liked the sport but because I was near people and able to interact with them.

That trait got more accentuated later in my life when I stumbled upon people that had similar views with me and enjoyed this kind of discussions too. That’s how I even became friends with @teos, @buzlealex, and @thethirdeye because we were talking about interesting stuff.

I was never the type of person that was into writing, but when I got on Steem, I realized that this type of writing I’m doing right now and the talking I already got used to are very similar, very connected. For me, talking was about spreading ideas and engaging, getting to know people better and I am thrilled that I can do that through writing right now too.

It's possible that you already know what you like, or you still have no idea but either way, keep on experiencing new stuff because you never know when you might find something that you like more.

Be the Best

Many people think that they know what they like and what they want to do for the rest of their life but to be honest, a lot of them just suck at that thing. You can find something that you like, but if you are not made for that thing, no one will ever pay you for it.

Think about it, how many people have you seen that said they want to be singers, dancers or sportives and they completely suck at that thing, they are not made for something like that. They probably don't like the singing, they are not passionate about it, just that they like the idea of singing. You can’t sing if your voice sucks, nor you can’t play football if you don’t have the right body constitution. If you suck at something, keep it as a hobby and focus on something you like and are better at. The whole myth that you can become anything you want is not entirely accurate because many times it’s just not possible.

But if you found something that you love and you’re even decent at it, then for fuck sake, put all your efforts into that thing and get better, until you become one of the fucking best. Talent won’t get you further in life but work does, if you get better at that thing, you will be able to achieve something amazing.

To give you an example, a few months ago I got into photography, and even if I still like it, I sucked at it and decided to give up and focus on the things that I am actually good at writing. Even if I can get better at photographing, I decided to invest my time into writing and get better here because I’m already decent and I must say, it was an excellent choice. I might get back to photography in the future but only if I get more spare time.

Conclusion

After you find something that you like and you’re somewhat decent at it in the beginning, and you become great as time goes by, you will be able to get paid for it. You can take full advantage of Steem and invest your time here because you might get paid for your skills, people earn money even from posting fucking memes. I don’t say that it would be easy to gain some rewards on this platform, but it’s still worth a shot.

The idea is that once you find something and become the best at that thing, you will most certainly find someone or something ready to pay you.

This is so so so so true, and I wish more people thought like this. I am trying my best to make money doing what I love, filmmaking, it's not easy and you have to make a lot of sacrifices but it's so worthwhile.

Have you made any films?

A few short films, I would like to write a feature length soon!

i love gaming but people around me does not like to see me play the whole day. but i know with gaming i can make an income. what do you suggest i do, ( with people around me i mean my closest family members)

I love the title of this piece and the general context. What we love, we put our passion into it and monetise it for our benefits while solving others problems at the same time. This is surely the way to wealth!

Thanks for reawakening people through this piece.

Excelent way to say the truth. It happened to me as I'm good at posting on FB and IG and made a lot of followers that were añways expecting for my posts. Then I heard about Steemit and didn't believe it, then I said WTF!! let's get into it, it'll be the same that I've been doing. I've barely two month around here and it's turnning to the same as in the couple social networks I mention above. Constancy, discipline and a lot of adventure, cuase this is what I write about. Thanks for sharing your ideas on your posts.

If only it was easy to discover what each of us love. Just as you said in the article, some people are clearly lucky for figuring this out quickly.

I agree with you about work and effort being the means that allow us to achieve our goals in life.

We need to put our energy into things that give us good results. There is a youtube channel I really like its called prageru and some time ago they made this video about this subject

Now I don't necessarily agree with everything they say, but they have prove to me to be serious people, so I decided to share that video here to see what you think about it

Cheers man!

Now I know for sure that I have to talk with you. I look forward to a time when our schedules will allow that 😁.

When I saw the title I was like:

-Hmm, let's see how is going to say that. As I know how difficult is to explain something so vague.
But you managed well, and yes, that's a good writing 😉.

Have you read Managing oneself by Peter Drucker @guyfawkes4-20?
Glad Steem&writing suits you well!

muuuuch easier said than done, even though you have a point...
But the thing is... you know what they say? ''Do what you love for a living and you'll never have to work a day in your life''? Well... I firmly believe, from experience as well, that as much as you love something, when it becomes your job, not saying you'll hate it, but maybe you won't love it as much...
