About me!

Hey guys how's everyone doing?:) I really would love to hear from this community! My name is Holten Widmar, 22 years old, graduated from Drummond High in 2013. Some of you might already know of me from me being in the news and the Big River Radio Wave A few times. I was honored to be part of these activities thanks to my adventure of being in forensics (public speaking.) In highschool I kind of just stuck to myself and wasn't involved with any after school activities. One of my older friends one grade got me into forensics by talking to my class about it. I was never expecting to go as far as I did! Some of you might be familiar but forensics consists of categories which consists of Demonstration Speaking, Duo Interpretation, Extemporaneous Speaking, Farrago, Four Minute Speaking, Group Interpretive Reading, Interpretation of Poetry/Prose, Moments in History, Oral Interpretation of Literature, Oratory, Play Acting, Poetry, Prose, Radio Announcing, Solo Acting Humorous and serious, Special Occasion Speaking, Storytelling, and Impromptu Speaking, in which I was in four minute, moments in history, oratory, and special occasion my four years of highschool. And yes I did have to look up all the categories :P first starting out i didn't know what to expect but found out it was my gift I didn't know I had. All four years, four categories, four golds at state, I even won critics choice in forensics and got a plac and the whole works!

I have a physical disability called cerebral palsy which I use a crutch to walk. I love to be a motivation to people which is why I joined forensics. I didn't think I'd make it far but found out I was good at it. I want to show others they can do anything if they put their mind to it and never say that you can't. My life has not been easy. It has not been a catwalk, I had to work really hard to get what I want. Things won't be given to you all your life and will have to work.

My family and I are so close. We've been through alot together! Everything from heartbreaks to being with each other in the hospital. I've been in hospitals countless times for checkups, surgeries, and for pneumonia. I've had 10 open back surgeries for my scoliosis to straighten my spine with rods. Every year I would go in to get my rods tightened in my back. My mom and I spent so many nights in the hospital. This was a yearly thing for us. First surgery was back when I was 11. Nine surgeries in I was at school one day dropped my pencil and I bent over to pick it up felt a pop in my back. Didn't think much of it continued my day. Very next morning I was putting on my jacket felt the second pop and OMG I cried like a baby so hard! I never experienced pain like that in my life! A month later I went to get a xray and found out I actually broke my two metal rods in my back. I went a whole month without going to the doctor with broken rods! When I had new rods there were two pieces that eventually rubbed right on the inside of my skin and busted open my scar and just dealt with it for a few weeks and just cleaned the wound every couple days and we had a option to completely remove the rods cause my back was already fused and wasn't going anywhere. Seeing my wound wouldn't heal I decided one more surgery wouldn't hurt so I'm completely metal free of my back! All the metal in my back I swear weighed as much as i do! I kept the bag of metal as a souvenir! Pneumonia was another thing! It was not fun especially went you basically have one lung to work with from my curvature in my back that compromised one of my lungs. That whole deal really sucked but my family was with me the whole way.

Its me, signing off would love to hear from you guys and really get to know the community! Peace and goodnight :)
