There are plenty of people who have had bad experiences with love. (Just a few months ago I tried to ask a girl out -- through email!) You can't let those moments define you for the rest of your life, though. If you did, someday you wouldn't allow yourself to do anything meaningful. You'd be stuck in a web of guilt and inadequacy from all the old stories you still tell yourself. It's okay to have bad experiences, but telling yourself that's the best you can do is self-defeating.
