"Your father threw an axe to the suitor of your aunt. I could not imagine how your father would react when you introduce your boyfriend to him," my mother once told me.By then, it's always been a question on how and when will I introduce my love to the man I first love? It's been quite long since our relationship started when I finally made up my plans just to make sure that their getting-to-know-each-other scenario wouln't be as embaracing as it was with my aunt.The following steps did work for me. 1. I believe that a way to girl's trust is through a girl's insightful secret. So, I talked to mom and tell her how I met a guy who's not so handsome but awesomely kind. I told her every positive and negative attitude I noticed from my bf. As expected interrogations brought in but I answered her politely. I made it sure that she'll love my man by emphasizing the similar positive traits my man and my dad have.
2. Dad's weakness is moms wisdom so, I let her do her part by asking a favor from her. I told her to give my dad an idea about how he would react if oneday I'll introduce him a man. And of course I ask mom to ask dad what questions would he ask to my man.
3. Building confidence through good sense of humor. I told my man all the questions my mom got from dad. By then, I already know that dad has an idea that I'll be introducing him someone. So he's preparing himself and my man should prepare himself too. But the technique there is the man to man humor. My man made my dad laugh and he did ask my dad real life situation questions (which my dad likes most).
4. Let your man be a man filtered by your first man. Before we meet our dad, I told my man to be himself. Tell him everything that's true because a father will always invision his daughter with a man her daughter introduces him. If your dad sees how reliable your man's words are then your man is at the good side. Thus, be consistent. Remember that the key to one's consistency is honesty. You'll know your father likes your man when your father starts to build continous conversation with your man.
