Why many artist become famous after they died?

I am still curious why many artists become famous after they died. I wonder if they were still alive, would they be just as famous now?

Hmmm... I just watched the movie Loving Vincent. It was really hard for him to sell his paintings to get some money. And not only him, many artist are like that.

It's so hard to think about why that would happen.

I think it's more valuable when people are still alive so we can see and understand what they write, paint or anything that they do... because we can ask them about it.

For what I can say... I think we must appreciate what people are doing now in their life, so when they die, they knew that their life made an impact on the world. Starting with peoples around you:)app.jpg

So what do you think guys?starry night.jpeg

I love Van Gogh and many of the classical artists. Especially Starry Night. I agree with your take on things. I think though that people wait until the painter is gone before they make their works famous. A living painter can always make more art, but there is only so much from a deceased painter. A finite number of paintings created by an artist have value, while a living artist can create more art and that drops the value of their other works. It's silly but that's the way it seems to me.

yes, you are right
