Love vs Apathy

in love •  7 years ago  (edited)

I so often hear people make the argument that the opposite of love is hate. I have never found that to be true. If someone hates you, they clearly give a damn. They feel something and there is still a way you can reach them.

I find the opposite of love to be apathy. Apathy is indifference, that is, the removal of caring either way. Relationships, projects and dreams can survive almost anything except indifference. If you want to slowly kill something, "just" stop caring.

it's an interesting topic because what you say is true is always about confusing about love vs. apathy

Truth is a difficult subject, as is love.

I completely agree. My mother has always said “the best revenge is to stop thinking about it.” Not that “revenge” is a positive route, but just giving the notion that to dwell up negative emotion (ie hate) regarding something or someone does not give healing, and most certainly does not equal the opposite effect of love. A simple and very logical post .. followed :)
