Hello my dear Steemians friends!!
Today I would like to take you to travel with us to the beautiful village of “Castellfollit de la Roca”, that belongs to the region of “la Garrotxa”.
Known especially for being a village that is on the edge of a precipice.
When we approach to access the village, the first thing that dazzles us is its spectacular panoramic view, when we still have about two kilometers to reach the center. Once we arrived and left the car, we go into the old town and the first thing that we find is the clock tower in the San Roc square. The tower was built in 1924 by a monarchist presented as a deputy and he promised that they would build it if they supported him with their votes.
In the direction of the church we passed by the square of the giants. The giants of the village are Roc and Barbara. There is a monument dedicated to the bigheads, put in 2002.
Continuing with our walk through the streets, we find a small fountain, which is striking because it is preceded by an altar with a virgin of which we don´t have information.
We go ahead and we come across a fork, the road that goes up leads you to the church and the one that goes down leads you to the river.
At this point we decided to separate our ways, to be able to take pictures from different perspectives. Our photographer and our canine friend takes the river path.
We arrived at the viewpoint and while we waited , we took the opportunity to take a selfie.
The canine photography team continues with its path and in it meets the old Gothic bridge over the river Tornell. The bridge was built between the 13th and 16th century and remained standing until the floods of April 1970.
The current metallic bridge was built over its rests, and from where we can observe the basaltic cliff on which sits Castellfollit. This village has the only active basalt quarry in Spain.

While we are still waiting for the photograhy team , it strikes us as a worker prepares to do his job of cleaning vegetal excess .
We continue the wait admiring the church of San Salvador.Privileged in its placement in the viewpoint of the Alta Garrotxa mountains and the valley of the river Fluvia. This location has also caused that Castellfollit has experienced different battles in several wars. In 1809 the „ guerra del Francés“ and near here was the battle of Toix.
On the other hand, the canine photography team is approaching the point where we believe , we will take the best snapshot.
Anxious we look for or friends from the heights.
As soon as we locate them we prepare our best pose for such a long-awaited photo.
And our photographer finally makes the photo.
Please let us know, which one do you like more.
When we see that this village doesn’t contain a great history, we decided to go back to the car and head towards a new destination.
And what a great idea, there start the adventure. We got into the car and headed to a little village that we don’t know but they spoken to us very well. Ahead we will have 28 km along roads full of curves on the rise.
After travelling several kilometres we started to see spectacular views , so we decided to stop to make some photos.
After this we continue with the tour or better as we said before, with our adventure. We continued advancing and on the way we crossed with a herd of cows and decided to get out of the car to immortalize this moment.
At the time of leaving with what we didn’t count is that in the herd there was a nice Catalan donkey who wanted come to say hello.
We said goodbye to this cute donkey and got into the the car. What we didn’t imagine was that he would almost get into the car. We laughs a lot and it was a good anecdote to tell.
In the end , we managed to get back to the car and when it seemed there wouldn’t be more stops until our destination , we were surprised by another beautiful image of nature , so again an obligatory stop.
An abandoned stone bridge from where we took some incredible photos.
We start the march again and we passed a small village that looks more like a small hamlet.
And finally we reach our destination to the beautiful village of Beget.
As you can understand , we can’t stretch so long, so like in the good television series,
this story to be continued
