Mycelium - Мицелий - #ccc

In these photos, you can see the underwater part of the iceberg, if this comparison is appropriate for mushrooms. The underwater part of the iceberg is always large, and the surface part is smaller, and so does the fungi. What is hidden from our eyes, has a huge size. This is Mycelium.

Scientists do not know, or, do not have full information about what the mycelium performs. But, came to the conclusion that this is the fungus itself. And what we use for food is a fruitful body that performs certain functions.

The function of reproduction, it is all clear. When the fungus ripens, it throws away spores. But, scientists believe that the fruiting body is a body of senses, or communication. The organ of communication with the outside world, like our ear, or the eye, or other organ

With the mycelium, it's still more complicated. He is endowed with reason. I do not know if it's a fake, or not a fake, but the mycelium has memory and passes it.

I saw a video with an experiment in a labyrinth, where the mycelium thread was looking for a path to the nutrient medium. He, at first, filled the whole labyrinth and found food. The second time, the mycelium went along the shortest path.

It's amazing that mankind does not know anything about mushrooms. Yes, what we know about them is a superficial acquaintance. For a long time, scientists did not know how to classify mushrooms. Some thought that mushrooms, plants, others, thought they were animals.

Fungi have functions or properties that are inherent in both animals and plants. More recently, the fungi were classified as a separate class - the Kingdom of Mushrooms.

But, dry science suffices us. Look, what is hidden from our eyes, now in front of you. This is the main and most significant part of the fungus. These tree mushrooms have already finished their lives. Mycelium threw away his threads and, over the old fungus, creates a new, young mushroom.

I know this is so late, but, I did read this fascinating post - there is so much that we don't know yet no one finds enough motivation to learn and study the lowly mushroom.

Nothing wrong. I am very pleased that you have read it. Thank you!
