A Tiny Drive

It was Tuesday, we head out for drives on a lot of Tuesdays. It's a good day to do drives and hunt for photo taking opportunities. I have a few pictures of red berries, they are not an easy thing to take a picture of so I am always happy when they come out. These were taken at Upper Skilak Lake campground/boat launch.

At Lower Skilak campground/boat launch I saw this spiky grass:

And even though this is the last picture it was actually the first in the series of pictures. I was looking back on the drive so the time line of the images is backwards. Here we have a picture of what we should not have a picture of at the end of October, from Bottenintnin Lake parking/campground area.

There should be no willow or leaf buds at this time of year, however it was nice to get a few pictures and to take note of the oddity of the trees budding this late in October. One can only wonder what this will do for the trees, it has been unseasonably warm for the last two weeks, and it was only today that the temperatures were more normal, we had some ice and frost this morning, and well into the afternoon, and while we have not received any snow yet up at Cooper Landing they did have a small dusting of snow, so winter is here not spring.
