[ES/EN] ʚ♡ɞ Magical March 2018 #4: Moon ❀

Un abrazote y un saludo, con la chica mágica del cuarto día he tenido una revelación: lo divertido de estos retos es que si los hacemos sin pensarlos tanto, pueden brindarte conceptos y combinaciones que normalmente no hubieses ideado en una situación donde podemos escoger hacer cosas dentro de nuestra zona de comfort. De esta manera se ejercita la creatividad y conseguimos no seguir haciendo más de lo mismo.

Heeey!!! Here’s a big hug for you, welcome back! With 4th day’s Magical Girl I had a revelation: The fun part about taking these challenges is to take them without overthinking. They can bring you lots of concepts and combination you would normally ignore if you were working inside your comfort zone. This allow us to exercise creativity and avoiding making the same things over and over.

El tema propuesto para el cuarto día es Luna y como me gusta humanizar animales, decidí inspirarme en una mariposa llamada Actias Luna. Son nocturnas y pueden ser encontradas en la región de Neártica (Gracias, Artículo de Wikipedia ❤).

The proposed theme for 4th day is Moon and I love to humanize animals so I got inspiration from a butterfly called Actias Luna. They’re nocturnal and you can find them in the Neartic zone (Thanks a lot, Wikipedia ❤).

Boceto a lapiz H y delineado a Marcador negro ultrafino, ambos Paper Mate

Sketched using both Paper Mate H pencil and black ultrafine marker

Coloreado con marcadores varios (Solita, Stabilo Boss, Sharpie y Prismacolor Premier) y bolígrafo plateado escarchado.

Coloring using various markers (Solita, Stabilo Boss, Sharpie and Prismacolor Premier) and silver shimmery pen.

Fondo con marcador Sharpie negro punta fina.

Made the background using a fine black Sharpie Marker.

Realmente me gustó mucho hacer esta chica para experimentar un poco el tema de hacer fondos negros, que siempre me ha dado algo de ansiedad porque siento que le quitará protagonismo a la ilustración, también para probar colores que contrasten bastante entre sí sin ser necesariamente complementarios, pero que de igual manera se acoplen y se vea armonioso todo. También incluí algo de tramas, sencillas y a modo de prueba a ver si las implemento de ahora en adelante en el reto, porque siento que me ayudan a dar textura y vida a los dibujos. Otro de mis experimentos, pero con todo este reto es acostumbrarme a hacer fondos, porque de verdad cambian mucho el cómo vemos las ilustraciones.

I really liked the making of this Magical Girl to try some stuff, I’ve always avoided to make black backgrounds since I fear the rest of the drawing does not highlight. I also tried some color combination because I like to make some contrast without using complementary colors but still getting a balanced color palette. I also included a tiny linework for adding some volume because I like the texture it gives to illustrations and other experiment I’m into is to adopt background making since they make the illustrations look way more different.
