Make Me Smile Weekly Challenge: Birthday Smiles!

My little ok ok...not so little baby boy Murtabak turned 2 yesterday. In the hustle and bustle of work, life and Chinese New Year coming up, Hubby and I literally forgot that it was his birthday. True to the second child syndrome, we were also too busy figuring out what we were going to do for his older brother's birthday (he turns 4 this year) which falls on the following week. Imagine that, we have two children whose birthday is just 6 days apart and we forgot one and remembered the other!!?? Truthfully we remembered but forgot all at the same time?? (I am a bad mother)

Suddenly mid-morning I got a text from hubby asking if it was Murtabak's birthday today? Then it hit me like a freight train...it is his birthday today! So what happened was, Hubby took Murtabak for his daily breakfast together and being the cutie pie that he is, garnered some attention from a stranger uncle in the market. This is the conversation between the uncle and Hubby:-

Stranger Uncle: "When is his birthday?"
Hubby: "Next week" (Mind you it is actually Chapati's birthday next week...)
Stranger Uncle: "What day?"
Hubby: Silence (Quietly to himself..."crap it's today"...) sheepishly "Actually tomorrow la uncle"

God's way of reminding us about this special day!

I caught this photo of him laughing with utter abandonment and childish glee being the center of attention and having a little tiny bear cake with candle to blow whilst listening to us sing him Happy Birthday out of tune! Indeed children are a heritage and such a joy from God! Every time I look at this picture, I will remember that smiling and laughing out loud is sometimes just what we need!
