This is first time to write a post in English. I want to introduce my company(LAB2050) and its researches & activities.

LAB2050 is an independent think tank based in Seoul, Korea. We study public policies to lay a social foundation for the next generation who will be living in 2050. We also design policy experiments to examine their impact.

LAB2050 designed and proposed basic income experiment for youth to governmental bodies including Metropolitan City of Seoul in 2019. This suggestion was followed by a dynamic debate on universal welfare and new distribution policies in Korea.

IDEA2050 is a biweekly column published by LAB2050. It is a column that interprets current affairs from the perspective of future generations and proposes big ideas to resolve social issues.

The first IDEA2050(link) is on Malmö, a Swedish city which once struggled with the decline of the shipbuilding industry. Sehwon Hwang at LAB2050 visited the city, interviewed old-time factory workers, and met Ilmar Reepalu, the mayor of the city then.

Did Malmö really shed tears?

The author compared Malmö with declining manufacturing cities in Korea and gives an idea on how rust belt cities should transform. Please read the column and share your opinion with us.

Various authors will deliver ideas that will change the world.
Thank you for being with us as always.
