This article is my first attempt to set an idea forth in a simple, compact fashion.

A self-serving bias is any cognitive or perceptual process that is distorted by the need to maintain and enhance self-esteem, or the tendency to perceive oneself in an overly favorable manner.

In my experience I have come to realize through reflection, and trusted feedback, that the things I cannot remember after a night where I misused alcohol and let myself go, are usually the things that I would be ashamed about thinking through a clear perception the next day. These are the things that your mind cannot make sense of and they get diluted by the self bias effect in an attempt to preserve the image of yourself in itself.

The Mandela effect is a topic that has made it's light more often then before, and the topic's trend is increasing.
The fact that Nelson Mandela was held prisoner on Robben Island was made news around the world by news units controlled by their people in power as was South Africa where Nelson Mandela fought against that controlling power. The aim of that power was to divide, as genders were divided, so was the hype on the matter of race. When Nelson Mandela got released to continue his mission somewhat successfully, many news units neglected this fact. There are thoughts that Steve Biko's death, was miss communicated as Nelson Mandela's death.

In any case, there are many ways to trick the mind of an individual or yourself, and the same can be said for civilization and the planet as a whole. I believe the Mandela effect's emergence across the world indicates humanity's notice of false memories created or grown inside of it due to the defected self-serving bias system.
The people in power has positioned themselves as the self esteem, and the rest of us are working on feeding that self esteem. Investigation into things like the Mandela effect is something that humanity can do in an attempt to free themselves and become awakened from their own self bias, and the system that is controlled by the few for personal gain.
