The good news is the distribution went out this morning. This is going to be a weekly thing so if you did not sign up, please do so following the link below.
I wrote about a week ago that Manna is coming to Steemit and they are stuck in queue with the sign up process. The information was filled out and submitted.
Manna is working on streamlining their sign up process..they got 11,000 through for today's distribution.
Like with STEEM, some patience is required.
Please post any feedback you have with problems you got signing up. I will be sure to forward them to Manna.
For newer people, upon signing up you will get a referral link to sign up your friends and family. This will put you in the bonus pool for a period of 12 months on each sign up. Be sure to use this to earn extra Manna.
Now that the first distribution took place, it is easier to discuss this with people. Basic income showed up in people's accounts today.

This is pretty cool! I did notice that the price is going up really fast. For those who live off of very little, if the price keeps going up, Manna could maybe double how much money they earn a month.

That is the goal. Eric, one of the co-founders, would love for the price to go up and be giving people about $1,000 a year. Not a ton of money in the western countries but in many nations, that amount helps.
I know some who signed up are in countries where the average yearly income is $6K...so an extra $1K per person in the household would really help.
That is why it is so important for everyone to sign up...even if one doesnt need the money, it is crucial to kick off the network effect.
One can always donate the tokens to someone else in need.

Where I live in the US, $1,000 a year isn't enough to live off of, but it's defiantly a help. I have a friend who lived with three other people in a two bedroom apartment for a very long time, just because together they could then afford to live and save a little money.

Nice progress, though the price is still too low. I have couple of "k's" on Manna. When was the send and receive supposed to start to function on the web-wallet? I was disapointed that the price didn't move, but then realized that you can't send yet, so no wonder nothing realy happened.

Thanks for the reminder. I'd forgotten to check, even though one of the Manna team is actually in my conscious crypto group! I just checked and see that I got about 87 Manna. Very cool. Now I'm going to go remind my folks to check their balances too.
I've loved the idea of UBI for a few years now, but just never could make the math work in my head. It just didn't seem sustainable. It is cryptocurrency markets that make this have real potential. I'm excited to see where this is able to go.

Here's how the UBI math works. It's a bit more complex than most people think, but it's also perfectly understandable.

They have about half the people who gave emails verify. Is that because of their verification process or because a lot of those people simply signed up with their email and lost interest in the 4-6 weeks before the wallets were set up.
There are also people who were in the Ekata wallet system (like me) who havent had their coins transfer over.
And the dashboard is still missing parts of it being activated.
They set a goal of March 1 distribution and they hit that...so that is the positive. Like STEEM, it is no longer a theory...they distributed tokens to anyone who verified...
Now it is time for them to spend the next week clearing up some things....

Ah yes. I actually thought when I was signing up that they made it really not obvious how to complete the process. It's one thing to give your email and verify to the point you can log in. But then you have to know to click through to the extra section to sign up for the actual UBI airdrops with your address. I wonder how many people didn't even realize they never finished the process.
Anyway, as you say, at least it is now something happening, despite there being much to still work out. Thanks for the insight.

A big part of the problem is they didnt complete the process until the wallets were completed so people had to wait weeks to complete.
Like you said, by then they might have even forgotten about it.
Now that some token went out, hopefully we will see some of them verify and add to the pool.
