A month after it upgraded its satellite images with higher resolution photos, Google now upgraded and the standard road view maps in order to clean them and make them more comfortable to the eye.
The objective, according to the company is to provide balanced information, and maps should not show "overcrowded", and it removes "items that are not absolutely necessary."Also changed is the typography to help areas of concern stand out more.
Google now helps users pointing to areas or sites that they would like to visit with orange tint. Then they can zoom to the orange area to find more information and details about the attraction.
Google has said that the "areas of interest" are determined by an algorithm that measures the concentration of businesses around the area, however, it requires the contribution of the human factor in major cities such as New York. Speaking of colors, Google gave publicity and a chart that shows what kind of attraction or area corresponding each color present in Google Maps. The new upgraded version of Google Maps will be available in desktop, on Android and iOS.
They changed the API now so you have to use an API key.. Single handedly killed off my contact pages on all the sites I have built. :(
