Legendary swimmer Micheal Phelps had a photo leaked of him back in 2009 of him smoking marijuana out of a bong. That photo him was taken in November 2008. Only three months after his historic 8 gold medel performance in Bejing. I'm no Micheal Phelps but I do love swimming, and like Phelps I do love Weed.

I swam competietivly for a little over 5 years in my teens. I also taught swim to infants and childern. There is nothing more tranquil than being submerged in water. Absoutlotly concentrated and focused on one thing; being first. Now 8 years later I'm back on the pool deck with a new view on swim philosophies. When I saw Micheal Phelps ripping a bong back in 2009 I said “ A-HA!” If the best swimmer in modern human history feels its ok to be an olympic champion and smoke some weed there might be something to it.

Now I'm swimming 2-3 times a week. It is an excllent form of cardio and great for body tonning. I think it beats running any day. Like jogging I get something called a “swimmers high.” Where instead of exhaustion I find myself in a pleasant state. Which is why I enjoy a little cannabis before I swim. I love smoking cannabis but I dont recommend smoking it before doing cardio excersises. I like taking a dab, vaping, or an edible. I feel like cannabis really helps me focus while im doing my laps. When swimming long distance it is important you keep a steady pace and arithmic flow. If you are not concentrated you may wind up with your arms or legs doing most of the work.

Edibles:

Eating an edible and swimming I believe is best for sprint laps. If I eat a 100 mg edible 20 minutes before I swim. By the time I warm up and start with my sprints the edible kicks in. One minute I am swimming butterfly and then “boom!” I start to invision my arms as butterfly wings. By that I mean I start to focus on technique.

When Swimming, like fighting, technique is everything. the idea is to glide through the water so keeping musclses tense is often a big mistake. Staying relaxed allows me to stay loose and stream through the water.

Dabs:

Taking a dab helps me stay on point and relaxed when fatigue starts to set in. I Swim half to a full mile per session depending on time and if I have done any exercises prior. So it is important I keep my cool when im feeling tired and feeling like im short of breath. Any swimmer can tell you that a major obstacle is fighting through exhaustion. Being high I can feel like I have better control of my pace, and my “Swimmers High,” last longer. It allows me think more clearly about how much longer I have left and how to reserve my energy.
