MarketFriday by @Dswigle: Night Market and Music Festival

My wife is a teacher at the Pretoria School for cerebral palsied learners, they have fundraisers from time to time. For this fundraiser they had a Gourmet Hamburger Stand at SONOP, which is a men's residence at the University of Pretoria. SONOP, had a Night market and music festival which was their own fund raiser.

SONOP is one of the older hostels of the University, which consists of a main building and a number of small annexes!!

I took a number of photos of the annexes - you will note a lot of signs on them, all of these signs are actually stolen!! This is part of this residence's culture, to steal signs and put them up on their buildings!!

I loved the look and feel of this place, and it was really interesting and sometimes funny to read all the signs!!

Below is directions to the Cradle of Humankind - I believe you will never find it by following this sign!!

Below is some of the teachers busy setting up the hamburger stall!!

Below is a sample of how the Hamburgers will look like - each burger is however unique as people could choose and build their own burger with the ingredients they love!!

Below is the group of teachers who manned the stall!!

Next to us were some students with a nice GIN stand, which my wife supported quite well!!

A nicely decorated annex with some nice signs and even some street signs in the tree!!

The guys below had a very nice coffee stall going!!

Here is a nice wine stall - also supported by my wife!!

Here you can see a bit more of the area where the market was held!!

There was also a stall selling some nice BEER which I supported throughout the evening!!

Even a sign of Andy Cap holding up a BEER sign, declaring Free Beer tomorrow!!

Below is the area where the band played and the people could sit and relax, while eating the food and drinks they bought at the market.

The hamburger stall became rather busy at times!!

The stalls looked quite nice when it became dark and business was quite good!!

Three of the teachers spouses, I was one of them, prepared the sausages and onions that went into the hamburgers. We had a great time and lots of fun, making and selling the hamburgers.

Yes, it was very enjoyable, I loved the experience!!

This was a most excellent #MarketFriday @rynow! And I started to comment and was called away and never finished. How terrible because this was such a wonderful post.

I have now missed the upvote, so I shall leave you with a bigger tip. My apologies! :( I was away without internet for two days and it put me behind!

It really was a whole lot of fun, I enjoyed it very much, just to look at everything and everybody was great!!

I love the building with all those signs, reminds me back to my Army days decades ago when soem of my army mates would dot he same ( not saying whether i ever added tot he collection or not lOL)

Yes, it was amazing just to look at all the old signs, I was actually tempted to take one of the signs with me, but in the end decided against it!!

LOL that really cracks me up stealing an already stolen sign :)
