How to support nonprofit brand building

in marketing •  6 years ago

Branding is easy if you have billions of marketing budget

It can be difficult if you have only millions, it could be impossible if you are a nonprofit without any budget - really? No - some options that help a small or not existing budget holder to raie brand awareness of a charity, foundation or other organisation without marketing budgets such as (certain) universities and hospitals.

Organise your media lists

That should be quite easy and should be first ground work in PR to build relations with key journalists that might help in to raising your public profile. But please be prepared to tell a story because if you fail the first one-on-one meeting with the meda that could alread be the end.

Social media management tools

When you have a story to tell and created PR content make use of it for your social and other marketing channels - but re-shape / adapts it to the relevant audiences. Use the free social media management tools to track success and draw conclusions - I use Tweetdeck and Socialbakers but there are others out as well such as Hootsuite.

Visual design tools

There are so many free graphic design tools everywhere on the web that can enable a normal writer to become a designer alread lol - well almost. Not listing all software or online editors but make sure you always have some visial content to sell with your story / written content.

Hi @marketinggeek !

I used to work for a shoe brand where we would use shoes as payment for a band. They where pretty new but the fan base they brought was perfect.

They would where these shoes at will and we would every so often sponsor a show, however the key thing was they really loved the shoes. It worked out.

Part of the idea was to find the right people who will enjoy the brand as we did!

I look forward to more posts and knowledge sharing.

Thanks for resteeming my post!

A good example of free graphic design tool is Canva. You can easily create posters for different social media platforms without a deep knowledge of graphical design.
