My pitch to Gary Vaynerchuk on why he should join Steemit

in marketing •  7 years ago

Gary Vaynerchuk should be on Steemit.

To me, this seems obvious. Gary is a marketing genius and has been on the cutting edge of every social media platform since Twitter. He's been named to Fortune's 40 Under 40 list, he has an audio podcast, as well as an online documentary series called DailyVee.

He posts compelling content to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, iTunes and Medium on a regular basis.

Today I reached out to him. I told him it's time to start posting content to Steemit.

My message to Gary:

Hi Gary,

Why aren't you blogging on Steemit? (a blogging platform that rewards authors with a cryptocurrency called Steem... Think: Medium meets Reddit meets cryptocurrency)

You're already going to the effort of producing consistently great content on Medium. Considering you're someone who stays on the cutting edge social media trends, it makes sense that you would consider adding content to Steemit. Not to mention, you'd surely make a lot of money by adding your content to this platform. (1 Steem is worth about $3 USD; 1 Steem Dollar is worth $7.50 USD).

For example, here is a story New York Times Bestselling Author Neil Strauss recently published on Steemit: https://steemit.com/elonmusk/@neilstrauss/elon-musk-the-unedited-uncensored-version-of-my-rolling-stone-cover-story (To break down the numbers: Neil's post will likely give him between $3,500 and $4,000 USD worth of Steem/Steem Dollars.)

Beyond the monetary incentive, it's clear that you understand how powerful blockchain technology is (as you stated here). However, you've also been quick to say that you don't like to talk too much about things you don't fully understand. That is the beautiful thing about Steemit: you don't need to post about cryptocurrency and you don't need to understand blockchain technology to use it. You'd be adding a lot of value to the platform (and receiving a lot of value in return), simply by posting the type of great content that you post elsewhere to Steemit.

You should be on Steemit, Gary. This seems like a no-brainer.

If you have any questions about how to get started, hit me up and I'll be happy to walk you through the process of setting up an account.

Well done, let's see :)
Though I'm not sure "making money" from this will convince him. Testing it, so that he can talk from experience to help his followers make money - that might inspire him. Or getting closer to his goal to buy the New York Mets :)

But in the end I believe he needs to see some kind of service and value being exchanged here. He's all about service and adding value (as you said) so how would steemit allow him to be of service and add value in a way that he doesn't already do otherwise? He will reach less people here, and the monetary rewards are not important enough for him - I suspect.

That's just my personal assumption but I love that you contacted him and that you made him aware of steemit. I'm curious if you'll get a response from him! :)

I agree with you that the financial rewards won't be the pure incentive; however, I could definitely see Steemit as a gateway into the world of blockchain technology. Gary understands the power of blockchain, but he has said that he doesn't fully understand the inner workings. Steemit is an opportunity for him to begin using blockchain technology by doing something that is very familiar to him: producing content.

Thanks for your comment and sharing your opinion! I'll keep you posted if I hear back.

(BTW - he wants to buy the Jets. Who knows, maybe Steemit will help him accomplish that goal quicker!)

Jets, Mets... 😄 I don't know either of them, ha ha!
Yes, keep me posted! Fingers crossed...

thank you for sharing

This would be amazing if he joined.
