If it wasn't a coincidence - we identify the cause and treat ourselves! I feel a little more autonomous just thinking about having to go to the doctor or take a painkiller whatever that knows what direct and indirect effects, short or long term. And make me thinking too. Medicine should be in the curriculum in formal basic education, so we would learn the least to deal with our body in the most common diseases.
But it wasn1t only because of this episode ... my mother devotes much time to studying natural medicine and the functioning of the body and I have often witnessed her adopting certain treatments that worthed. But people are not encouraged to have this kind of autonomy. It is not only the fact that people don't have the knowledge of it, they also are actively discouraged from intervening in their bodies. This is a role entirely for formal medicine, we don't know the basics at least to follow and to understand minimally the procedures of the doctors. Trying to understand a doctor's treatment is often viewed as disrespectful. I remember once asking to a doctor a question about some pathology I had and he kicked me out of the office saying it was not the first time I challenged him. I was surprised, don't remembered the other times and I was enjoying knowing more about what I had.
The internet often confuses and misinforms us with all sorts of information, good and bad. But if used rightly, it is a source with great knowledge about medicine that we can begin to apply in our life.
