This is for people who wants help their friends and family members who are struggling with mental health disorder.
Such as depression, social anxiety, bipolar, border personality, schizophrenia, psychosis, etc...
Don't
- if person is suicidal don't ever tell them to go kill yourself because that's what they want to hear and they will commit suicide.
- mental health is as important as physical health, person struggling with mental problem can't think straight so don't ever tell them to "get things out of your mind" or " it's just in your mind" or "why are you afraid of your thoughts" or "think about all the positive thoughts" things this will make them more depressed.
- don't force person to tell you what's bothering them.
- don't ask too many questions.
- never say you're faking it or trying to get attention.
Do
- everyday hold them or hug them, make them feel that you care.
- if you really want to help "they won't say a word so you have to be good at this. You have to sit with them for hours even though they won't talk but when time comes they will tell you everything and don't judge them when they tell you anything"
- they will try to push you away with words or sometime abusive behavior. but you have to stay if you want to help them.
- they will tell you that they are ok but they are not. So just hug them every day. Say that I care.
