Scriptures on faith: His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.

The Gospel of Luke begins with the announcement of the birth of John the Baptist and Jesus. The angel Gabriel visits Maria and Isabel. After the announcement of the mystery of the incarnation by the Angel Gabriel to Mary in Nazareth, she goes to Isabel's house, John's mother; and it is there, in the house of Isabel, that Maria pronounces a hymn of praise to our Lord is known as the Hymn of the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55).
Maria's hymn has two parts, in the first part Maria speaks in the first person about her beatitude: "My soul glorifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my savior", Luke 1:46-47; and in the second part the hymn takes up teachings from the Old Testament as a reaffirmation of the divine providence. This song of Mary is similar to the beatitudes of the Sermon on the Mount (Luke 6:20-26), misfortune for the sinners, God overthrows the powerful and favors the humble: "He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.", Luke 1:52; and blessings for those who follow the path of God, the path of mercy and righteousness: "His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation", Luke 1:50.

This expression in Luke 1:50 comes from Psalm 103: 17-18: "But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children - with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts."
The hymn of Mary teaches us that the thoughts of God are not the thoughts of men, that is, we cannot measure success by wealth and power but by what pleases God. God grants his grace and mercy to those who fear him, the fear of God is the beginning of man's spiritual life. The fear of God is defined as constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, stability. Mary is the first devotee of Jesus. Mary's hymn anticipates a teaching from the Gospels, the fear of God is a fundamentally feminine gift, women like Mary Magdalene are the true devotees of Jesus. Faith begins with the devotion to God.
