Blockchain will be considered by Catalan government for use in the public e-voting system

The head of the Catalan government's citizen participation council states said the authority is thinking about use blockchain for the community’s voting system.
Details:
Earlier, was approved the preliminary bill to make e-voting for the citizen, who are living abroad. Director of Citizen Participation of the Government of Catalonia, Ismael Peña-López hope to introduce this type of voting by the year 2020 and make it available for all voters.
"The introduction of the blockchain to the voting process is an interesting step. [...] The Generalitat has not made a clear commitment to the blockchain and is still exploring what options there are before deciding” - said Peña-López, who also is a professor of Law and Political Science at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC).
Why it is important:
Transparent voting on the blockchain would be useful worldwide. After introduction blockchain in this process, it will be impossible to forge the results and the real needs of society must be taken into account.

KEPCO (Korea’s largest power provider) announced the adoption of blockchain and other innovative energy solutions for the development of next-generation micro grid (MG).
Details:
KEPCO is a $15.9 billion market cap corporation in which the South Korean government and state-controlled bank hold a majority stake.
They decided to use the latest innovation for improving the energy infrastructure. KEPCO focused on the decentralization, digitalization and decarbonization - it is 3 general trends of the power industry right now.
Earlier MGs faced hurdles in providing reliable power as they comprised mostly small PVs (PhotoVoltaics, used to generate solar energy), wind turbines (WTs), and energy storage systems (ESS). Using international technology standards, the MG is expected to be more interoperable.

SWIFT India Partners With Fintech Firm for Blockchain Pilot
The story:
To improve the efficiency and security of financial products SWIFT India has partnered with fintech firm MonetaGo to pilot a distributed ledger (DLT) network.
Details:
SWIFT India was made by SWIFT SCRL (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) and the other major banks in India.
This organization provides messaging services to banks, corporates and domestic market infrastructures.
The new program based on MonetaGo’s financial services network technology. And it will be merged through standardized SWIFT financial messages.
The banks are planning to use a shared distributed ledger network, that complies with industry-level governance, security and data privacy requirements in order to improve the efficiency and security of their financial products and procedures.
