I keep this idea in mind when doing my research and prefer to bet on projects that have a good chance of capturing 1% of the $1 trillion market rather than 50% of the $100 million market.

Metavault.Trade — Decentralized Trading of Perpetual Futures
Before going into detail why I think Metavault.Trade is a great project, I would like to describe its vertical as: “Decentralized Perp Trading”. You can skip this part if you already know all about it!
Decentralized Trading
I guess all my readers know what centralized trading is. This is the act of buying/selling assets on a Centralized Exchange (CEX) like Binance, KuCoin or Coinbase. These platforms have pros and cons: they offer low transaction fees and allow a lot of flexibility through APIs and bots. But they also require different levels of KYC to use - that's fine in principle, until they're hacked and your personal data is out there for every imaginable bad guy to use - and sometimes freeze their assets for an obvious reason. The worst case scenario is that they get hacked and you lose everything you have on their platform. "Not your keys, not your crypto!" as they say.
Decentralized applications (dApps) solve some of these problems by moving transactions to blockchains like Ethereum and providing decentralized transaction solutions. Uniswap is probably the most famous Decentralized Exchange (DEX). No KYC required and can be accessed from anywhere in the world. However, fees on Ethereum can be 10 to 100 times higher than fees for a similar transaction on CEX, especially for smaller position sizes. The price to pay for decentralization is huge! Metavault.Trade is a new generation of DEX that brings a lot of new features and very low fees.
Futures contracts
When people start trading, they start with “spot trading,” buying and selling assets directly in the market. But there are also more complex instruments known as futures, or “futures” for short:
A futures contract is an agreement to buy or sell another commodity, currency, or instrument at a predetermined price at a specified time in the future.
Unlike the traditional spot market, in the futures market, transactions are not "settled" immediately. Instead, two counterparties will transact a contract, specifying a future payment date. In addition, the futures market does not allow people to buy or sell commodities or digital assets directly. Rather, they are trading contracts representing those commodities and the actual transaction of the asset (or cash) that will occur in the future - using the [Reference] contract.
The following contracts are designed to protect against market fluctuations, but futures trading also offers more possibilities than spot trading:
Traders do a "cut to maturity": they bet on an asset that doesn't have one.
Traders use leverage: they enter positions for most of their balance. But in doing so, they risk losing their entire balance when the market moves in the wrong direction, even a little. Using high leverage (10x, 20x… 100x!) with large positions is very dangerous and should be avoided at all costs if you are not a seasoned trader!
