Hello Friends, today I am going to write about 2 Factor Authentication for making your user accounts more secure.
Every year we learn about multiple security breached happening with our social media and other online accounts and we end up in losing our sensitive information and money like our email accounts, bank accounts, social media account, etc. Chances are, many of you have personally been impacted by one or more recent events.
Using 2 FA Authentication we can significantly reduce the rick of unauthorized access to our online accounts. 2FA uses 2 pieces of information to authenticate. First is as you know it’s your regular password. The second factor is authentication using secure code / soft token provided by various 2FA service provider like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.
I will share you an example of securing your Google account using 2FA Google authenticator as per the steps below:
- First you need to download Google Authenticator app for your mobile devices from Apple Store or Google Paly store.
- Then you need to login to Google account in computer using web browser and go to accounts -> Sign in and security -> Sign in to Google and then click on 2Step verification.
- After authentication with your password you will be provided with a secret key or QR code which you can scan using Google Authenticator and configure it.
- Once Google Authenticator is configured then you can login your Google account from anywhere using 2 FA (Password + Code showing in Authenticator app).
So, guys this is one of the small example how to secure your account using 2FA. Whenever you register to any online account (crypto sites, social media, email site) always look for 2FA in passwords and security and make sure you enable it.
Many of you might already aware about it but I hope this information helps those who doesn’t know about it.
